Shuffling

A footwear device that distinguishes shuffling from walking to help prevent falls.

Falls are the second leading cause of accidental injury deaths worldwide (WHO). Approaching the problem from fall prevention, I began developing a footwear device that gives users feedback on their walking. In this iteration I identified characteristics to distinguish shuffling from walking strides for use in a threshold-based algorithm.
